Bash a success, Live Sounds searching for next project
The Big Fat Summer Bash 2.0 has happened (28/8/08) and was a huge success. This year's event drew an audience of 421, a healthy growth on the original event. All five bands who performed (The Ghost Frequency, The Glides, SlitCell, Hello Geoff, Epydemyk) did an amazing job and there was a fantastic reaction from everyone attending. Everyone came away from the event having enjoyed themselves and many of the artists having learned from the experience. Pictures from the event are available on the website (www.BigFatSummerBash.co.uk) and next year's event is in the initial planning stage.
Live Sounds Managing Director, Ben Langfeld said: “We are very pleased with the way the event unfolded and we can't wait to announce the plans for next year. At the moment, we are working on establishing a Youth Advisory Board to drive our programme of projects and help us provide the services our customers need. I would encourage anyone with an interest in the music industry to join the Youth Advisory Board!”
Being a social enterprise, the recently established company has a community focus and operates for the benefit of young people wanting to enter the industry, in whatever capacity. At the forefront is a core group of free thinking young volunteers, and more are needed.
The company formed to replace the successful Sefton Youth Music Club and is to continue it's projects, so Merseyside bands hoping to become the next big thing will again be able to show their talent next summer at the Big Fat Summer Bash '09.
The event will give unsigned bands the chance to perform live at a popular venue on the touring circuit, as they all bid to become the next big band to come out of Merseyside.
Event organizer Ben Langfeld, Managing Director, said: “Merseyside has got such a huge history of producing quality music, from The Beatles right the way through to modern acts like The Zutons. But there is still so much talent that hasn’t made it. We want to give young upcoming bands a taste of live performance and, more importantly, a chance to start showcasing their talents.”
